How do I record and export a Powerpoint as a video lecture? (On Windows)

Part 1: Recording Your Powerpoint

 

1. Open up the Powerpoint you would like to record. In the menu at the top of your screen, select the ‘Slide Show’ tab, then click “Record Slide Show”.

 

 

 

2. Once you click ‘Record Slide Show’ it will take you to this screen. Check the bottom left to ensure that your microphone is on. You may also click the video icon if you would like to record yourself talking. When you are ready to record, press the red button on the top right.

 

 

 

3. Use the arrows on your keyboard or on the screen to move between your slides. You can choose to pause and resume your recording using the icons on the top left.

 

 

 

 

4. If you’ve made a mistake, you could press the “clear” button on the top, and choose whether to clear the recordings on the slide you are on, or everything you have recorded.

 

 

 

 

5. Once you have finished recording your powerpoint, click the stop (square) button on the top left of your screen, and then press “esc” on your keyboard to exit full screen.

 

 

 

Part 2: Exporting Your Powerpoint 

 

1. To start exporting your presentation, click ‘File’ and then ‘Export.’

 

 

 

 

 

2. Select “Create Video”, and make sure that “Use Recorded Timings and Narrations” is selected. When you are ready, press “create video”.

 

 

 

 

3. A screen will pop up, allowing you to name the video, and save it in a folder, your desktop, etc...wherever you wish.
