How do I record a video with Kaltura?

Instructors can record videos using Kaltura's Desktop Recorder.

Recording a Video

  1. Log in to Canvas.
  2. Navigate to "My Media" in the global navigation menu.
  3. Select the down arrow next to "Add New" and click "Kaltura Capture."
  4. If not already installed, download the Kaltura Capture Desktop Recorder.
  5. Open Kaltura Capture as prompted.
  6. Select the following from the Kaltura recording toolbar. Click on the icon itself to turn off camera or audio, depending on your recording needs.
    • Screen: full screen or select area
    • Camera: camera source
    • Audio: audio source
  7. Start recording. 
  8. Click the square "Stop" button to open Kaltura Capture.

After Recording

  1. Add a title to your video.
  2. Select "Save and Upload" or "Save" to proceed.
    • If you select "Save," you'll have an option to "Upload" from your library.
    • If you want to re-record, select "Delete" to start over.
  3. Navigate back to "My Media" in Canvas to view, edit, and share your video.
